NYAC Shuts Out the Academy, 3-0
The Long Island Academy was shut out by the New York Athletic Club, 3-0, on humid Travers Island today. The Academy went down 1-0 but had a Tyler Arnone penalty kick to equalize which was saved. The score was 1-0 at the half.
Academy head coach Adrian Gaitan of Oceanside started the match on the field and he substituted himself in the second half, after which NYAC put away two more goals for the 3-0 score. Possession was 50%-50% but NYAC put their chances past Academy keeper Brandon Lafferty and Long Island did not score on their chances. NYAC improves to 2-2-3 on the season while the Academy drops to 1-5-0.
Obviously, the Academy is having a challenging 2010 and needs to put together a winning streak to avoid their first losing season. The squad went 5-3-3 in 2007 plus 8-1-2 in 2008 while winning the Mid-Atlantic Division championship of the National Premier Soccer League. The 2009 season saw the squad go 4-1-3.
