![]() Forward Shaun Higgins Shaun scored two goals and had one assist last year in leading the Academy to a 5-3-3 record in 2007 and provided three goals and two assists to lead the side to a 8-1-2 record in 2008. He opened his account in 2009 with a three-goal hat trick in the season opener against the Boston Aztecs on May 30. The Queens resident grew up playing for the Long Island Junior Soccer League clubs in Bayside, East Meadow and Dix Hills. A highlight of his soccer career was being the two-year captain of the Hofstra University men's soccer team under coach Rich Nutall. "Shaun is a terrific striker with loads of speed, skill and ability," commented Long Island Academy head coach Adrian Gaitan. "He has a nose for the goal and we have tremendous expectations for him. He is also a valuable, positive locker room personality which will help with our second-year team."
